Entry Two: "Our janitor does not look like that!"

Men's Restroom
This is the men's restroom symbol I've created. Overall this is simple yet comedic in that the figure isn't standing straight. They obviously have to go to the bathroom. I separated the genders by using the square shape. Simple circle head and straight lines for the legs. Overall this design sticks close to the original symbol yet is more twisted with humor and asymmetrical somewhat.

Women's Restroom
The woman's restroom symbol is same as above but I separated the genders with the triangle shape here. These definitely would make someone rush in and do their business I'm guessing.

Fire Extinguisher
The fire extinguisher is pretty basic but I added a fire border to the bottom of the can. The technique I'm using for all of these symbols is repetitive stringy lines. There is a sense of texture here and also I believe they lack a sense of informal clean and bold lines that are found in every universal symbol.

Janitor's Closet

For the janitor's closet, I used cartoon like bubbles paired with rubber gloves. This is just an animated and friendly way of looking at this occupation. Again I've kept the design simple and kept the focus on cleanliness rather than the physical work that is usually shown on the universal janitor's closet symbol.

Executive Washroom
For this symbol, I went with a toilet and an elaborate border of swirls. For this symbol I was thinking of a classic comedy film where this type of design would be found. I wanted the toilet to be the focus, but to be represented with whimsical and royal swirls. Again, like the rest of the designs I went with the repetitive stringy lines and an asymmetrical design.

Parking Garage
For this symbol, I was thinking about when I have extra baggage or something that I don't want to hold. I ask the front desk or authorities "Can I keep this here?" This design is pretty self explanatory. KEEP HERE as in leave your car. I would laugh at something that would be this direct. The design overall is messy and makes the symbol that much more comedic.

EXIT
When I think about exits, I think about a doorway that leads you to the exterior elements like the trees, the sun, the moon, automobiles, and so on. I wanted to make a symbol that shows a door opening to frame the exterior elements that aren't found indoors. This would be like a picture within a picture. The symbol is plain with the focus being on the sun and the arrow.
